"This year's edition of the Wroclaw Citizens' Budget received twice as many projects as compared to last year," says Bartłomiej Świerczewski from the Wroclaw City Council Office (Biuro Rady Miejskiej Wrocławia), which coordinates the WCB project. Citizens estimate the total value of the projects at over 222 m PLN, but these sums are subject to substantial change upon review of the projects by the appropriate magisterial departments.
"Most of the projects are related to leisure and entertainment: sports or playgrounds. Roads, pavements, car parks and separate public transport or bike lanes are another major section. We have also got projects regarding greenery or education, mainly sports facilities and playgrounds on the premises of educational institutions," Bartłomiej Świerczewski enumerates. There are also investment projects, which are likely to be rejected.
"We are waiting for the results of the review which will finish by the end of May. This is when all leaders will receive feedback with respect to their projects, and those who want to submit their observations will be invited for consultation meetings", says Bartłomiej Świerczewski. The list of the projects subject to the vote of Wroclaw citizens' will be announced in August. The vote will start in early autumn.
