Wrocław will receive 30 thousand dollars for the development and commercialization of applications Lingly.
In December 2013, in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park there was a Polish selection to an acceleration program TURN8, run by the Dubai accelerator i360accelerator. Wrocław company Funmedia signed in to the edition in Gdynia - the creator of several e-learning courses as well as mobile products for learning foreign languages. Its representatives presented the company's latest project - a mobile application for learning foreign languages Lingly.
Funmedia project was highly praised by the jury of Dubai and got to the finals. Over the next few weeks the authors of the application took part in the initial verification of the idea. Then on 21st January 2014, the company Funmedia was officially admitted to this year's edition of the accelerating TURN8.
The concept of the winning design Lingly assumes that everyone is able learn the basics of a foreign language easily. The main goal of the authors was to eliminate the necessity of learning complex grammar rules, while maintaining the complexity of the learning process, which includes listening, reading, writing and speaking. Efficiency is achieved through the use of high-quality graphics, minimalistic interface and navigation with a single gesture. Not only the authors believe in the success of the application. Research confirms that knowledge of only 1,000 words in a foreign language is enough to understand more than 80% of the meanings of words used in everyday situations.
Two employees of Funmedia will depart to Dubai in mid-February for four months to use the contacts with international authorities and business technology industry. In addition, the project received funding in the amount of 30 thousand dollars and in Dubai it will receive an exceptional support in the creation, promotion and commercialization of the product Lingly. Departure is also an opportunity to learn a foreign market, refine conceptual ideas, as well as discuss it during sessions with mentors.
Four-months-long conceptual works will end with Demo Day, during which representatives of the projects will present themselves in front of potential investors and will fight to obtain additional financing.
Acceleration of company in Dubai is a great opportunity for our project - Paweł Antkowiak originator of the project Lingly and Operating Chief of Funmedia said. - We get access not only to finance, but primarily to experienced mentors who can provide us with support in obtaining a global reach of Lingly applications. For us it is a special reward.
Accelerator program offered cooperation only to ten most innovative projects from around the world.
