  3. Birth of bats and other animals

The fact that spring is around the corner is most obvious in Wroclaw Zoo. The animals are more active and they spend more time outside, on paddocks. Lovable meerkats enjoy passages built specially for them from the grid and explore the vicinity. Brown bears, although still sleepy, are happy to bask in the sun.

The new residents of the garden are born, for example — bats. The young bats of an Indian flying fox were welcome with great joy. A flock of these bats appeared in the zoo last year and quickly acclimated in the Madagascar pavilion. This is their first offspring. The young bat spent a long time under the wings of the female bat, so the keepers can't determine its exact date of birth. It is certainly over a month old and becomes more and more independent. The visitors can look for the young Indian flying fox among the green upper parts Madagascar pavilion.

The interesting fact is that these bats, although nocturnal animals, do not use echolocation — the main sense they use is sight.

Recently a water chevrotain was born — it is one of the smallest ungulate animals in the world, in danger of extinction due to poaching.

The only remnants of winter are Christmas trees — the zoo received an excess number of them. They serve animals as food and for fun, and there are still a few hundred of them left.
