A baseball class will be created at Middle School no. 6. Recruitment starts on 26 March. This will be the second such initiative in Poland. The class will be created as a result of the school's cooperation with the KSB Wroclaw baseball club.
"The collaboration between Middle School no. 6 and KSB Wroclaw has proved to be effective. A sports class is an enormous challenge and responsibility, as we are entering a new dimension of youth education. We have been working on this project for a long time, and now the key issue is to build a team. This is the first initiative of its kind in the city," says Łukasz Tur from KSB.
In the application process, the students will be required to take a mandatory performance test and present a medical certificate issued by a sports doctor stating the lack of contraindications for them to practice sports. Recruitment will be held for the male and female teams. Girls will practice the female version of baseball - softball.
KSB Wroclaw has been active for 10 years now. The club was founded in 2004 as the Physical Culture Association. Its anniversary this year coincided with its return to the extra league - the best baseball league in Poland.
Baseball is one of the disciplines applying for participation in the 10th World Games 2017 in Wroclaw. It has qualified for the second stage of the so-called TWG 2017 "invitational sports" selection. From the eight sports that have reached this phase, a maximum of five will have the chance to form part of the largest sports event in 2017.
